Organic Agriculture Production

Production

Producing quality organic crops demands that a whole system approach is taken. Soil management history greatly influences the potential for that season’s crop. Building soil is key to successful organic farming. For information on specific aspects of organic agriculture production, please visit Michigan's organic website at www.michiganorganic.msu.edu

Events

Are you seeking educational opportunities and events around the state and beyond? Please visit Michigan's organic website at

Certification

Organic certification typically requires three years to transition from conventional to be eligible for organic certification.  Any farm can implement organic practices but until the farm is certified by a USDA certified agency it cannot label the product “organic.”  If you would like more information on how to certify a farm as organic you can visit Michigan's organic website at http://www.michiganorganic.msu.edu/OrganicCertification/tabid/1013/Default.aspx
